Kobbie Mainoo has committed his long-term future to Manchester United after signing a new contract that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2031, ending speculation over his next move.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who rose through the club’s academy ranks, had been entering the final years of his previous deal, which was due to expire in 2027.
Despite uncertainty earlier in the season, the club made it clear they viewed him as a key part of their future.
Mainoo’s campaign took a different turn following the departure of former manager Ruben Amorim.
Under interim boss Michael Carrick, he has become a regular starter, featuring in nearly every league match since January.
Earlier in the season, limited playing opportunities had pushed Mainoo to consider a loan move, with Italian side Napoli emerging as a potential destination.
However, United rejected the move, encouraging him to stay and fight for his place.
Speaking after signing the new deal, Mainoo described Manchester United as his home, expressing pride in representing the club he joined as a child.
He also highlighted his ambition to help the team compete consistently for major trophies in the coming years.
His resurgence at club level has also been mirrored on the international stage, earning him a return to the England national football team, where he recently featured in friendly matches.

Club officials praised his development, with football director Jason Wilcox describing him as one of the most naturally talented young players in the game.
He added that Mainoo’s professionalism and technical ability make him a standout product of the club’s academy system.
Still early in his career, Mainoo is widely regarded as a midfielder with immense potential valued for his composure, ball control, and ability to operate in tight spaces.
With his future now secured, he is expected to play a central role in Manchester United’s long-term ambitions.
