Nigeria’s women’s youth national teams have received a morale boost ahead of crucial international fixtures, with former internationals rallying the U-17 girls’ team while the U-20 side intensifies preparations for their World Cup qualifiers.
They disclosed that Dede, now serving as Football Development Managerfor WAFU Zone B, visited the U-17 team, popularly known as the Flamingos during their training camp in Abuja.
She donated training materials and offered words of encouragement to the players, urging them to stay focused as they prepare for the penultimate round of qualifiers scheduled to be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 7.
The Flamingos, under the guidance of Coach Akeem Busari, are set to face Guinea in the first leg of their qualifying tie in Conakry on May 9, with the return leg billed for Nigeria on May 23.
Dede’s visit coincided with the presence of officials from the WAFU-B, who are in Abuja for a women’s football administrators’ workshop.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, have intensified preparations for their own qualifying campaign for the to be hosted by Poland from September 5 to 26.
The team has arrived in Ijebu-Ode after completing a three-week training camp in Abuja and will now train at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo as they shift focus to match readiness.
The Falconets are scheduled to take on Malawi in the first leg of their qualifier on May 2 in Nigeria, before traveling for the return leg on May 9.
Team officials say morale within the squad remains high, with players demonstrating strong commitment and cohesion as they aim to secure qualification for the global tournament.
