The Nigerian film industry has been plunged into grief following the sudden death of veteran Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi, who reportedly passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Family sources said the actor retired to bed on Sunday night but did not wake up the next morning. The development was confirmed by his wife to close relatives, setting off an outpouring of shock across the entertainment community.
Members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria have since reacted, with both former and current leaders expressing grief and extending condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
During his career, Akiyesi earned recognition for his roles in films such as Desperate Ladies, Pretty Liars, Bridge of Contract, and Heart of a Saint. Beyond acting, he worked as a director and entrepreneur, contributing to the steady growth of Nollywood and mentoring younger talents within the industry.
