A wave of praise has greeted a humanitarian gesture by a Muslim cleric, Ladan Gana, who donated ₦100,000 to support the release of a man identified as John Arum.
Gana, described as an imam and sheikh based in Jos, Plateau State made the contribution as part of efforts to assist Arum, a Christian, in securing his freedom, an act that has since resonated widely across social media and among residents.
Observers say the development underscores the importance of unity and compassion across religious divides, particularly in a country often challenged by sectarian tensions.
“This is how society should function putting humanity above religious differences,” said a community leader in Jos, reacting to the gesture.
