The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has expressed confidence that the forthcoming national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be peaceful, transparent, and free of internal disputes.
Aniagwu made this known on Thursday while speaking on the sidelines of the party’s world press conference held at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, ahead of the convention scheduled to take place at Eagle Square.
The event is expected to attract about 8,453 delegates from across the country, who will elect party leaders through a consensus arrangement.
Describing the convention as the culmination of a structured process, Aniagwu likened it to the final stage of baking a cake, noting that groundwork had been carefully laid from the ward level through local government and state congresses.
He explained that the progression from grassroots to the national stage reflects the party’s commitment to due process and internal democracy.

According to him, the largely peaceful conduct of congresses across different zones demonstrates the APC’s ability to manage its internal affairs effectively.
Aniagwu acknowledged that disagreements are inevitable in political processes but stressed that the party has established mechanisms to resolve disputes without escalating tensions.
He assured party members and the public that the national convention would maintain the same level of orderliness and transparency recorded in earlier stages.
“There have been no reports of major disruptions from the zonal congresses. Where issues arise, the party has internal processes to address them. We are confident the convention will be rancour-free,” he said.
He added that the outcome of the convention would further strengthen the party’s democratic credentials and boost public confidence in its internal processes.
The APC national convention is expected to conclude with the emergence of a new leadership, setting the direction for the party’s future political engagements ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
