The Trumpet gathered that the age range of the girls is between 12 and 16 years.

A human rights activist, Comrade Israel Joe, who disclosed the issue on Facebook, said people usually sleep with the underage girls for as low as five hundred naira (N500).

He said when the report came to him, he confirmed it and reported to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammad Ali, who immediately mobilized a team of policemen and women with more than 15 patrol operational vehicles for a sting operation.

The operation according to him, led to the arrest of the hotel management, some alleged criminals using the place also as hideouts, many underage girls and people that were there to take their turns.

Comrade Joe said, “Some of my followers on Facebook drew my attention to one Fagoma Hotel located at Aragba, after Otokutu, Ughelli South LG where teenagers ranging from 12 years and above are used as sex slaves.

“People come, sleep with these children and pay as low as 1000 naira to the hotel management. Some of my comrades did investigations and reported back. I personally went there to see for myself and trust it was a gory sight. One of the girls told my comrade that even if it’s 500 naira… my spine ran cold into my veins the moment I heard that.

“We made a report straight to the commissioner of police and I also pull a call across to the Ministry of Women Affair through the Commissioner. It was alleged that police from Otu-Jeremi whose jurisdiction it was, covers up the Hotel management and also collect returns in cash and kind from the little girls.

“At the wee hours of the night yesterday 15th (Friday), a sting operation was carried out by a combine team of policemen and women with more than 15 patrol operational vehicles and sure we arrested a lot of the children, those who went there to take turns, the hotel management and alleged criminals using the place also as hideouts.”

When contacted for confirmation, Delta Police Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, said “I don’t have information on that for now please. I am trying to find out.”
