Bingham University has announced the elevation of Desmond Okocha to the rank of Professor of Journalism and Emerging Media, marking a significant milestone in his academic and professional career.
The promotion recognises Prof. Okocha’s longstanding contribution to journalism, communication studies, and media development in Nigeria. As Chairman of the Institute for Leadership and Development Communication, he has played a key role in advancing research, training, and policy engagement within the sector.
His appointment has drawn commendation from colleagues and industry stakeholders who describe it as well deserved. Endurance Edafewotu, Director at the institute and a research consultant based in the United Kingdom, praised Okocha’s impact, noting that his elevation reflects years of consistent scholarship and professional excellence.
Beyond academia, Prof. Okocha has maintained a strong presence in the media industry as a pioneer consultant to Trumpet Newspaper, where his expertise has contributed to editorial development and strategic communication.
