Suspected bandits have attacked a church in Kwara State, abducting several worshippers during a Sunday service in Omugo community, Ifelodun Local Government Area, in an incident that has sparked widespread concern.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed assailants stormed the Evangelical Church Winning All premises while service was ongoing, seizing congregants before security operatives could respond. Initial reports indicate that about seven people were taken during the attack.
Security forces, however, mounted a swift response, leading to the rescue of three of the abducted victims. Efforts are ongoing to secure the release of those still in captivity.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, confirmed the incident and praised the coordinated efforts of security agencies, local vigilantes, and forest guards in confronting the attackers and limiting the scale of the operation.
She strongly condemned the assault on a place of worship and assured residents that authorities are intensifying efforts to track down the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.
The incident has heightened fears among residents of Omugo and nearby communities, amid growing concerns over banditry and kidnapping across parts of north-central Nigeria.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with more details expected from the police as efforts continue to restore calm and ensure the safe return of the remaining victims.
