A Kano State High Court has fixed April 15, 2026, for the hearing of preliminary objections and all pending applications in the alleged misappropriation case involving the former Kano State Governor and immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and seven others.
The case, instituted by the Kano State government, was adjourned on Tuesday following the absence of the five senior lawyers leading the various legal teams, who were represented by junior counsel.
The state government had filed an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy, bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds running into billions of naira against Ganduje and his wife, Hafsat Umar.
Other defendants in the suit are Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, as well as Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.
At the resumed hearing, counsel to the prosecution, Victor Oni, informed the court that the state was ready to proceed with the matter.
He disclosed that a motion on notice dated November 24, 2025, seeking leave to present additional proof of evidence against the defendants, had been filed.

Counsel to Ganduje, his wife, and son, Lydia Oluwakemi-Oyewo, also announced readiness and drew the court’s attention to a motion for stay of proceedings dated July 17, 2025.
Other defence counsels confirmed the filing of various motions, affidavits, and preliminary objections, including applications seeking a stay of proceedings pending determination at the Court of Appeal, as well as requests for extension of time.
However, counsel to the sixth defendant, Abubakar Ahmad, applied for an adjournment, arguing that an application filed on February 2, 2026, was not yet ripe for hearing.
After listening to submissions from all parties, Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu adjourned the matter to April 15, 2026, for the hearing of all preliminary objections and pending applications.
