The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) has applauded the military for the recent operational successes against terrorist groups in the North East, describing the developments as a significant boost to national security.

In a statement released on Monday, MPAC praised troops of ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ for the neutralization of Abu Khalid, identified as the second-in-command of Boko Haram, during an operation in the Sambisa Forest.

The statement, signed by the MPAC Executive Chairman, Disu Kamor, said the operation, alongside the elimination of other high-value targets in recent weeks, had delivered a major setback to the leadership and operational capacity of terrorist networks operating in the region.

According to MPAC, the latest progress emphasizes the professionalism, resilience, and sacrifice of the troops, along with better coordination between military forces and civilian stakeholders.

The organisation noted that such cooperation remains vital to restoring peace, protecting civilian lives, and preserving Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

While acknowledging the importance of sustained military pressure, MPAC urged the military to increasingly adopt intelligence-driven counter-terrorism strategies.

It said lasting success would rely on timely and accurate intelligence, strengthened community trust, enhanced inter-agency collaboration, and the disruption of terrorist logistics, recruitment, and financing networks.

MPAC also called on the military high command to maintain operational momentum, deepen intelligence coordination, and continue prioritising the protection of civilians and critical infrastructure.

The organisation further appealed to security agencies, community leaders, and civil society groups to intensify collaboration aimed at isolating violent extremists and denying them social and economic support.

“Nigeria deserves peace, and our communities deserve safety,” the statement said, adding that MPAC stands firmly with the military in ongoing efforts to end terrorism and insecurity in the country.
