The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal of Aminu Sule Lamido, 34, son of former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, challenging his conviction for failing to declare $40,000 at the airport and making a false declaration of foreign currency. The charges were brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a unanimous decision delivered on Friday by a five-member panel, the apex court resolved all three issues raised in the appeal against the appellant. Justice Adamu Jauro authored the lead judgment, which was read in court by Justice Abubakar Umar. The court found the appeal lacked merit, dismissed it, and upheld the Court of Appeal, Kaduna’s decision, which had affirmed the earlier ruling of the Federal High Court, Kano.
