The Adamawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged acid attack on a 17-year-old boy, Walid Kassim Mohammed, in Yola South Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on January 14, 2026, when the victim ran to the Shagari Police Division in distress, alleging that he was sprayed with a substance suspected to be acid while on his way to a mosque in the Shagari area.
Police sources said the victim identified the alleged attacker as one Idris Hamza, a resident of the same community.

Following the report, the police promptly rushed the teenager to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. The suspect has since been taken into protective custody.
The Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who said further details would be made public as the investigation progresses.
