Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has been nominated for the Distinguished Award for Excellence in Sustainable Development and Community Empowerment at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS).

The prestigious ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.

His nomination was conveyed in an official letter signed by M. S. Danjuma, Permanent Secretary (General Services Office), on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

At the ceremony, President Bola Tinubu, will personally present the award.

The event is organised by The Best Strategic Media (TBS) in collaboration with the office of the secretary to the government of the federation.

This national recognition underscores Gov. Eno’s strong commitment to sustainable development, community empowerment, and inclusive governance.

It also highlights the impact of his agenda, particularly in rural development, agriculture, security support, public service efficiency, and social upliftment across Akwa Ibom State.

In just two years in office, Gov. Eno has become one of Nigeria’s most decorated serving governors, receiving multiple awards for good governance, transparency, infrastructure growth, media openness, and people-centred leadership.

Among his recent accolades are the Nigerian Guild of Editors’ Excellence Award for Good Governance, the Social Media Governor of the Year Award by NISMA, and Leadership Group’s Governor of the Year (2024). He was also named Best Governor of the Year (2024) by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, recognised for fiscal discipline and impactful grassroots development.

His support for security agencies has earned him honours from Security Watch Africa Initiative and the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom Command.

On the continental stage, he was recently named African Governor of the Year (Infrastructure Development) at the African Business Leadership Awards in London.

As Gov. Eno prepares to receive his latest honour at the NEAPS ceremony, many observers note that the award not only celebrates his leadership style but also reinforces Akwa Ibom’s growing reputation as a state steadily advancing through people-focused development.
