The North East Joint Task Force ‘Operation Hadin Kai’ (OPHK) has successfully expelled Boko Haram insurgents from a community in the Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State after an attack that resulted in the destruction of homes and vehicles.
The terrorists launched a surprise assault on the town late Saturday night, setting fire to residential buildings and vehicles, including one belonging to a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.
Abubakar Yaro, the Chairman of Magumeri, confirmed that the attackers fled around 3 a.m. on Sunday after being overwhelmed by the swift response from troops and allied Civilian JTF members, hunters, and volunteers.
“Our brave troops and community defenders reacted quickly to distress calls and successfully drove the terrorists away,” Yaro stated.
He commended the security forces for their effective coordination and noted that normalcy is gradually returning to the area.

Boko Haram and ISWAP militants have recently increased their attacks on military and civilian targets throughout Borno State.
In recent weeks, the military has lost two commanding officers during clearance operations in Bama and Damboa Local Government Areas.
Following weeklong visits from the army and air force chiefs to the region, new coordinated strategies have been implemented to enhance efforts to eliminate insurgents from the area.
Troops assured top military leaders of their commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the North East, while military leadership promised to improve the welfare of frontline personnel.
