Police in Asaba have arrested social media figures Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, and Mr Jollof after a fight aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight forced aviation security to intervene on Monday morning. Officers at the Delta State Airport Command confirmed that both men were detained immediately after the aircraft landed, following reports from crew members and video evidence shared by passengers.

The confrontation, which began as a loud argument, erupted into a brawl in the aisle while the flight was en route to Lagos. Viral clips show both men swinging at each other as passengers shouted for calm. Several travellers stepped in to pull them apart while cabin crew attempted to restore order.

Investigators said the incident stemmed from an ongoing online rivalry between the two entertainers. Their sharp exchanges across social media appear to have spilled into the cabin shortly after takeoff, turning a routine trip into a scene of confusion for those on board.

United Nigeria Airlines confirmed the disturbance and noted that safety procedures were followed. The airline stated that both passengers were handed over to security officers once the aircraft parked, and that full reports have been submitted to the authorities.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority later announced a formal investigation, warning that violent behaviour on a flight breaches the Civil Aviation Act. Officials said the offence carries provisions for fines, arrest, and possible imprisonment. Aviation experts added that fights inside an aircraft create immediate risk, since even minor scuffles can interfere with safety protocols in a confined space.

The case has attracted wide online reaction, with many Nigerians criticising what they see as reckless conduct by public figures. Others questioned how a simmering online dispute was allowed to reach such a disruptive point.

Both men remain in police custody as statements are taken and evidence reviewed. The NCAA has requested full documentation from the airline and airport security, and further sanctions, including possible flight restrictions, are being considered.

Authorities say the outcome of the inquiry will determine the next steps, but the incident has already renewed debate about rising passenger misconduct and the need for stricter enforcement in Nigeria’s air travel sector.
