Troops under Operation Enduring Peace have carried out a major raid on a suspected gunrunning hideout in Fashoron village, Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State. The operation took place on 13 November and formed part of a wider push to weaken armed groups operating within the Joint Operations Area. The suspects escaped moments before soldiers reached the site, but the team secured a cache of weapons and other materials believed to support the illegal trade.

‎The search uncovered an AK-47 rifle, its magazine, a sub-machine gun, two Dane guns, forty-two rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, eighty-four rounds of 9 mm ammunition and twenty cartridges. Troops also found six mobile phones and a sum of three hundred and thirty thousand naira. The recovered arms and items are now in military custody, while efforts continue to track the men who fled.

‎Operation Enduring Peace said the raid reflects its determination to curb the flow of illicit weapons across Plateau communities. The task force noted that it will sustain operations aimed at dismantling networks that supply arms to criminal groups.
‎
‎
‎
‎The statement was signed by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, on 14 November 2025.
