Actress Regina Daniels has pleaded with Nigerians to stop insulting and attacking her mother, Rita Daniels, over her marital issues.

In a video posted on Instagram on Wednesday, Regina spoke directly to her followers and the public, sharing her distress about her mother being involved in the controversy surrounding her personal life and family crisis.

She emphasised that Rita is not responsible for her own choices as a young adult and should not face abuse or blame.

Regina pointed out that her decision to marry as a teenager was a fully conscious, independent choice, made despite her family’s initial strong reservations, including her mother’s.

She said: “Please, I am begging everyone, stop insulting my mother. Na me carry my two legs enter.

“She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She is strong, she’s my God on earth. My mom held it down for seven good years; she tried.

“She warned me, my brothers warned me. I’m so ashamed to say I fell in love.”

Regina revealed she was not pressured or manipulated but was the one who stood firm in her decision, even visiting a police station to report family members who tried to prevent the union.

She acknowledged that fame brings public scrutiny but insists boundaries must be respected, especially when it involves dragging innocent family members through the mud during emotional distress.

With her brother still missing and the family under stress, she urged for empathy, understanding, and respect.
