Tennis world number two, Daniil Medvedev, has failed to return to the position of world number 1 after he lost in the quarter-finals of the Miami Open to Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz.
Medvedev, who is the 27th person to have assumed the world number 1 rank, held it for three weeks before he lost it to Serbia’s Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic has not been able to compete in any of the ATP championships aside from the Dubai Tennis Championship where he lost in the quarter-finals to Cech’s Jiri Vesely due to his consistent refusal to be vaccinated.
He was denied entry into Australia to compete in the Australian Open over the same issue and the Serb is still adamant, maintaining his stand against the covid19 vaccine The Trumpet gathered.
Medvedev lost in the game whose outcome was 7-6 (9-7) 6-3 to eight seed Hurkacz. The Polish sealed the game with breaks in the fifth and sixth rounds.
