A Director in the Delta State Ministry of Education, Mr. Anthony Akponovo, has declared his support for the re-election bids of Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and the member representing Isoko North/Isoko South Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Akponovo who hails from same community with Hon. Ukodhiko, made this known while hosting members of the JOT Cartel, a socio-political pressure group, during a courtesy visit in Asaba.

Speaking earlier, the group’s convener, Ufuoma Ugwe, said the JOT Cartel draws its membership from across Delta State and is committed to promoting unity, responsible leadership, and progressive decision-making within Delta South.

She noted that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with Akponovo and seeking his guidance as the group intensifies grassroots mobilization for credible leadership.

Ugwe emphasized that the group remains resolute in opposing actions and decisions that do not reflect the collective interest of the people, adding that they are determined to pursue a path anchored on integrity, unity, and development.

She appealed to Akponovo to continue offering leadership and direction to help advance their shared objectives.

In his response, Akponovo, who accepted to serve as a patron of the group, commended the members for their organization and clear vision, assuring them of his full support.

He reiterated his commitment to the re-election of Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, citing the lawmaker’s performance and effective representation of the Isoko Nation and Delta South Senatorial District.

He also stressed the need for political cohesion within the constituency, warning against divisions that could weaken their electoral chances.

According to him, continuity in leadership is essential for sustained development, noting that strategic collaboration and collective effort would be crucial to securing victory in 2027.

Akponovo further urged stakeholders, particularly those of Isoko extraction, to rally behind both Joel-Onowakpo and Ukodhiko, pointing out that disunity could jeopardize their chances in a district where they compete with other local governments for political strength.

He also called on members of the group to mobilize support among Delta South indigenes residing in Asaba, stressing that a united front would be key to returning both lawmakers to the National Assembly.
