A forum of northern youths on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) said it will mobilize youths and other APC faithfuls across the 19 northern states to vote for Ebonyi State governor, Dave Umahi during APC presidential primary election.
The forum said the task of selling Umahi as preferred candidate for APC presidential ticket though enormous but achievable.
To kick – start the Umahi awareness campaign, the forum said it is consulting across the length and breadth of the northern region.
The Forum also charged leadership of APC to ensure that it navigate the party’s programmes ahead of the national convention and 2023 general election by upholding internal party democracy.
Chairman, Concerned Northern APC Youth Forum, Hon. Suleiman Liba addressed a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Forum advised APC to “stick to the plan of doing the right things always and ensure it get it right through internal party democracy, since true democratic tenets entails that a few may have their say but majority should have their way.
“We reiterate that the party’s activities especially during the coming convention must reflect the wish of the people”.
Apparently urging the party to zone it’s presidential ticket to the south, the Forum stated that “justice, fairness and equity must come to play in choosing and electing who becomes the next president of Nigeria”.
Having completed consultations of the northern part of the country, the Forum said the general consensus in the north is that power must shift to the south.
Libo said “it is very surprising how they have conducted their due diligence and have drawn conclusion that power must shift to the south and the south east in particular because according to them, in Engr David Nweze Umahi they have found a worthy successor to President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.
“On the basis of the stated above, the Concerned Northern APC Youth Forum further throw her weights behind the candidature of Engr. David Nweze Umahi for President, as it reflects the wish of the people especially from the north where we carried out a very successful consultation tour”
