Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has pledged firm security reinforcements and immediate resettlement efforts during a determined visit to Gwoza Local Government Area on Thursday.
Speaking during a visit to the Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Mustapha Idrissa Timta, Governor Zulum assured residents that no community under his watch would fall to Boko Haram insurgents.
“Deliberate measures have been taken to protect Gwoza, Limankara, and Bita. From now on, we will not allow any community to be displaced. Instead, more communities will be resettled,” Zulum stated.
He announced that displaced residents of Bita would be returned to their community on Friday, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to ensuring security across vulnerable areas.
“I have just visited Limankara and assured residents that steps have been taken to safeguard the town. We have provided the Civilian JTF with logistics to ensure the people are well protected,” he added.
The governor further informed the Emir that he would remain in the area until the security situation stabilises.

In response, the Emir of Gwoza commended Governor Zulum for his commitment to the welfare of the people and called for intensified military operations in insurgent strongholds.
“Security is our major concern. We urge the military to launch a massive onslaught on the insurgents’ enclaves,” the Emir said. “I appeal to the Federal and Borno State governments not to allow Gwoza to fall.”
He also warned against the spread of fake news and condemned efforts by some individuals to undermine peace in the region.
The Emir praised the military leadership in the area, including the Brigade Commander of 26 Task Force Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 192 Battalion, for their peacekeeping efforts.
Earlier in the day, Governor Zulum visited Limankara, located nine kilometres from Gwoza town, where he addressed residents and pledged swift intervention to fortify security.
“I assure the people of Limankara that significant improvements in security will be seen within the next 24 hours. Given its strategic importance, we will not allow this town to be displaced,” he said.
“This town has never been displaced, even at the peak of Boko Haram insurgency. Why should we allow it now?”
