The Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Arthur Akpowowo, has criticized the former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, over remarks made during an event in Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, Akpowowo, described Omo-Agege as a serial betrayer who believes in state capture.
He accused Omo-Agege of betraying Chief James Ibori, who played a pivotal role in his political ascendancy, as well as Chief Great Ogboru, who revitalized his political career in 2015 by providing the Labour Party platform for his senatorial bid.
Akpowowo noted that Omo-Agege’s ambition to gain power in the 2023 governorship election was decisively rejected by the people of Delta State.
“He is an undemocratic person, he believes in state capture. He wanted to capture power in 2023, but Deltans rejected him flatly. He is a serial betrayer, he betrayed the man who brought him into the limelight politically, Chief James Ibori.
“He betrayed Chief Great Ogboru, who rejuvenated his dead political career in 2015, when Great Ogboru gave him the platform of the Labour Party to contest for the Senate,” he said.

He further expressed concerns over Omo-Agege’s recent comments about him being removed from office in 2027, describing such statements as undemocratic and emphasizing his belief in democratic principles and divine authority in leadership.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people who elected him and justifying the trust placed in him.
“He (Omo-Agege) said that in the forthcoming election, I will be flushed out. I consider that as an undemocratic statement. I’m a democrat, and I believe that God gives power.
“I know that my people have confidence in me, they elected me freely and I’m working very hard to justify the mandate they have freely given to me,” he added.
