The Youth Literacy and Social Empowerment Foundation (YLSEF) at the weekend in Abuja, inaugurated its National Executive Council by swearing in national officers and conferred patron positions on notable Nigerians.
People from all walks of life thronged the banquet hall of the Kapital Club and Suites, Asokoro, venue of the memorable event.
Youth group mobilizer, Segun Adeleye, who is the chairman of the board of trustees of YLSEF congratulated the executive committee members for being found worthy of their election, while he urged them to serve meritoriously and be dedicated to the ideals of the foundation.
Adeleye promised to explore his position as the board of trustees chairman to guide and nurture the foundation, and to employ connections at his disposal to project YLSEF throughout the length and breadth of the country.
Major Seun Fadipe, former Chief of Staff to late General Oladipo Diya, when he was the chief of general staff during the Abacha military regime, as a special guest at the event, lauded the foundation for laying emphasis on literacy and empowerment.
He said it is only the youth who are literate and are adequately empowered that can aspire to leadership positions in the future.
According to him, the youths of today should always aspire for leadership positions in every sphere of national.life, rather than waiting for power to be handed over to them.
The retired military officer said there is the need for re- orientation for the youth and that the YLSEF should be a viable platform to change the aspiration and orientation of Nigerian youths.
Otunba Razaq Lawal, who was inaugurated as the foundation’s pioneer life patron, charged Nigerian youth to always believe in the nation and appreciate what they have in the country.
He urged the newly installed national executive committee members not to deviate from the principles of the foundation, not to disappoint the trust members have in them, but to work together as a team to achieve success.
Legal icon and professor of law, Dr. Chike Nwosu congratulated the foundation for having a national youth mobilizer like Dr. Adeleye behind it.
He said Adeleye is a strategist who had served diligently in the formation of many youth organizations in the country and expressed confidence that with him, the foundation will go places
He urged members to think out of the box as an entrepreneur organisation to produce a blueprint for a prosperous Nigeria.

The national officers inaugurated were Kyari Gadzama, president general, Ms. Emmanuella Odunze, vice president general, Surayya Isah, secretary general, Mr. Ahmed Suleiman, assistant secretary general, and Alhaji Gambo Jaginda, director of media/ public communications.
Others include, Miss Aisha Yusuf, director of press & social motivation, Mallam Dantata Salihu, publicity secretary, Mr. Olu Ariyo, organizing secretary and Mr. Shela Songu, financial secretary.
Also inaugurated were Mr. Haladu Abdulrasheed, treasurer, Miss. Joy Asonye, director of research and public mobilization, Hajiya Halima Salawu, director of women and youth affairs, Ms. Delu Jonah, director of peace and conflict resolution, Mr. Femi Ajetomobi, director of foreign and diaspora affairs, and Mr. Arhyel Wakawa, director of special duties.
Similarly, Idikwu Ikande, legal adviser and chief counsel, Mr. Abubakar Agabi, director of social and welfare, Mr. Samuel Adejoh, director of photography and chief librarian, Mr. Shunom Gin, auditor and Mr. Silas Thomas, administrative officer were inaugurated into office.
Otunba Razaq Lawal and Dr. Chike Nwosu were inaugurated as patrons of the foundation .
