The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike arrives China to participate in meetings aimed at improving water supply for the satellite towns around Abuja.
The Senior Special Assistant for Public Communications to the Minister, Mr. Lere Olayinka, shared this news in a statement from Abuja on Thursday. He mentioned that the minister is currently in Dubai before heading to China.
While in China, Mr. Wike plans to meet with officials from the China Geo-Engineering Corporation to discuss this water project.
He noted that during President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to China in September 2024, an agreement was signed with two Chinese companies, aimed at enhancing electricity and water supply in the FCT, particularly in its satellite towns.

Olayinka emphasized that these projects are part of President Tinubu’s commitment to restoring the faith of FCT residents in their government by focusing on projects that benefit the community.
He also mentioned that President Tinubu has approved a budget of N50 billion to provide clean drinking water in the satellite towns of the FCT.
Wike’s trip to China is to finalize discussions with the Chinese company about ensuring a reliable water supply in areas like Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje.
