The wife and daughter of the late Anglican priest, Venerable Edwin Achi, who was killed by kidnappers, have finally been released.
The family was reportedly taken from their home in the Nissi community on October 28, 2025, during a late-night raid by armed bandits.
Initially, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of ₦600 million, which was later lowered to ₦200 million, but the family was unable to gather the necessary funds.
It was later confirmed that the priest was killed while being held captive.

In a recent update, the mother and daughter were freed late last night after enduring three difficult months in captivity following their abduction in Kaduna State.
Their release has sparked a mix of relief and sorrow online, with many Nigerians expressing gratitude for their freedom while mourning the tragic loss of the priest.
Some social media users described the situation as “bittersweet,” highlighting that their freedom came at a significant cost.
While the release of his wife and daughter offers some solace, the murder of Ven. Edwin Achi serves as a stark reminder of Nigeria’s escalating insecurity, particularly the threats faced by religious leaders in the North.
