Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborewori has said that the state government made a provision of N1 billion for each Local Government in the 2024 budget for the purpose of road construction.
Oborewori made the disclosure when he received the leadership of the Delta State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in a courtesy visit at the Executive Chambers of the Government House, Asaba, Wednesday.
He said his administration has always prioritized engagements with Deltans in order to foster peace and development in the state.
He said, “we are doing a lot of engagements. If we are not doing engagements the last protest against bad governance would have seen something different has happened. Because Delta was one of the flash points. Even yesterday there was no protest because of the engagements, because we believe in dialogue and consultation and we will continue to do that.”
The governor further charged the Christian body on Unity and support for his administration, pointing that his administration was mindful of the affairs of the Christian body hence the restructuring of its mode of administration by the state government.

“I want to solicit today, that you continue to put us in prayer, those at the National level and those at the sub national because it’s the only way we can succeed in this critical time. Through your prayer we can lead very well. Those of us in government need your prayers because when you are in office, they mention your name in many places. Those who need appointments are praying, those who need one favour or the other are praying, those who want contracts are praying and they are calling your name. So we need your prayers to remain focused and make good decisions.”
In his welcome remarks, the Delta state chairman CAN, Rev. Lucky Osagbakhoe, who led the team, said they have come to engage the governor on some of the issues that concerns the Association and the state.
He commended the governor and his predecessor for their support towards the Christian body just as he reels out more areas he they desired the government’s support.
