The foremost leader, Victor Lamai, of Peoples Democratic Party Voice (PDP-V) worldwide has said that the mission of the group is to ensure PDP takeover power in 2023.
Lamai in an end-of-year party organised by the group on Wednesday in Abuja noted that it was time Nigerians rise to the challenges of mobilising massively for PDP in the nearest future.
He stated that the people should get themselves prepared for the upcoming local government elections in the Federal Capital Territory to ensure PDP sweeps all seats. This he reiterated would send positive signals across the party’s structures.
According to him, the PDP is the most viable opposition party, well-structured with a formidable membership drive, and strategically positioned to kick out the All Progressives Congress (APC) from power in 2023.
Lamai stressed that PDP-V worldwide will work assiduously in synergy with all stakeholders and groups to ensure it brings the PDP known for giving the dividends of democracy to Nigerians back to Presidential Villa.
He added that the PDP is ready to usher in an era where the dividends of democracy are given back to the people with a great turnaround in all human and capital development according to the ideologies and dictates of the founding fathers of the party.
According to a report from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Lamai in his statement said, “let me unequivocally enjoin us to brace up for the upcoming local government election at the Federal Capital Territory in ensuring we canvass and sensitise our people on the need to come out en-masse.
“This is for them to participate in the exercise as the outcome of this election will lay the foundation for our general performance in 2023.
“Our party is the leading and most viable opposition party with wide networks, strategic advantages, and other necessary wherewithal to wrestle power from the present ruling party and set our country on developmental tracks again.
“To help achieve this lofty dream is the essence of our gathering today to set the agenda for the group and our party at large,’’ he said.
He stressed that the aim of hosting the end-of-year party was to bring all the members of the group together to brainstorm, plan and share ideas adding that the PDP-V members are people of the same ideologies with unwavering support and loyalty to the PDP.
In the same accord, a member of the PDP-V and Coordinator-General, United For Better Nigeria Initiative (UBNI), Mrs. Nkolika Mkparu, said that the group will be sensitising the people to know that it is one man, one vote.
Mkparu noted that the people must be aware that it is not about registering to get a voter’s card but must be ready to utilise it by voting on the election day for the candidate of their choice.
She added that the group is working to mobilise women and youths in the country’s higher institutions of learning, reiterating that the group is laying the foundation ahead to wrestle power for PDP in 2023.
According to the Coordinator-General, UNBI, she stated that the people must look towards voting in credible candidates and not those who will splash money around on the election day but starve them of good representation after winning elections.
“The nation is in need of PDP, a great change, they are in need to bring PDP back to power to bring an effective change.
“PDP is the party that can bring the nation into a better level and the country is looking for PDP action.
“They need to elect the person that they want to rule them because if we do not participate, then the wrong person wins but when we all get involved we will elect the right person to lead the country better.
“Nigeria is large, we have intellectuals in the country so we can elect the right people, she added’’
Also, an elder statesman, PDP-V worldwide, Mr. Ibrahim Sani noted that the people should be ready to vote for the PDP in all electoral offices in 2023 highlighting the fact that the PDP has gone around the cycle of governance and is ready to take the country to a higher level.
He added that the economy of the country is down and only the PDP offers the hope of rebuilding the economy from the trenches it presently soars, noting that the labour of Nigeria heroes past would not be in vain.
“He said the PDP would rebuild the economy and curb the present challenges facing the nation, adding that “PDP is at a vantage position to offer hope, new aspirations to Nigerians.’’
“The youths, men and women, the old, everybody should make sure they have their voters card that gives you the right to vote for your preferred PDP candidate across the different offices.
“So everybody should get their PVCs so that on election day we will give other parties red card from the National Assembly to state houses of assembly to governors’ offices and to president’s office.
“We need a new beginning and PDP can give us that, Nigeria will move forward again and PDP will see to it”, he added.
Mr. Saidu Bello, a member of PDP-V worldwide, stated that people do not need to be further sensitised because they are prepared to usher in the PDP with their PVC.
He noted that the Nigerians must ensure after voting during the election they must stand to defend their votes.
While being unequivocal, he added that the judiciary which is the last hope of the common man must be firm and just in the course of discharging its duties.
