Ondo State government has directed all Vice Principals of secondary schools and assistant headteachers in primary schools in the State to resume teaching students and pupils in classes.
The Governor, Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu made this known through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Lola Amuda while addressing some school Principals in Akure, the state’s capital.
She said the new directive was part of efforts to make the state retain a better position in the education sector, due to inadequate teachers in both primary and secondary schools across the state.

“Pending the time when the state would address the shortage of teachers in public schools, all vice principals must return to classes,” the directive says.
The permanent secretary let out that some vice principals had already taken on the challenge, compelling others to comply with the governor’s directive with immediate effect.
Reacting to the directive, some Principals who spoke with The Trumpet on the condition of anonymity advised the education ministry to translate the directive to a circular for all schools in order to avoid confusion that might arise between the principals and their vice principals.
