Social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has criticised Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, over the persistent killings and kidnappings in Borno State.

In a video that has circulated widely on social media, the activist accused the government of failing to adequately protect citizens amid recurring terrorist attacks in the region.

Reacting to reports that suspected terrorists abducted more than 100 women and children in Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area, VeryDarkMan questioned what concrete steps the Vice President has taken to address the worsening security situation.

“Vice President Shettima, you hail from Borno State, yet your people are killed every day with no action taken,” he said in the video.

The social media commentator argued that the frequency of attacks in the region has become so common that many Nigerians now respond with little urgency whenever such incidents are reported.

According to him, the repeated violence has led to a dangerous normalisation of killings and kidnappings across parts of the North-East.

VeryDarkMan also raised concerns about political leaders pursuing re-election ambitions despite the ongoing security crisis.

He noted that Shettima, who previously served as governor of Borno State, should have a deeper understanding of the severity of the situation confronting communities in the state.

The activist further criticised government programmes aimed at rehabilitating captured insurgents, insisting that authorities should prioritise the safety and protection of innocent civilians.
