Key Highlights

  • VDM accuses Tinubu of worsening poverty in Nigeria

In a viral video circulating across social media platforms, VDM declared that Nigerians should resist any attempt to return President Tinubu to office for a second term, insisting that the administration has failed to improve the living conditions of ordinary citizens.

“This is the time we should all say no. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot come back because he can’t and he shouldn’t be allowed to come back. He does not have a plan, he is a failure and he will continue to fail,” he stated.

The outspoken activist accused the current administration of deepening economic hardship and increasing poverty levels across the country instead of delivering meaningful reforms.
“If he had reduced the rate of poverty even by 20 percent, we can say okay, but instead he increased the rate of poverty to hundred. So which future do you want to give us?” VDM queried.

He further alleged that the President was spending massive amounts on political mobilization and offering governors as much as N250 billion to align with him politically ahead of the next election cycle.

“That is why you go around paying governors N250 billion to join you. That is why you have been spending money on campaigns because you didn’t do well. If you did well, you wouldn’t have to pay money for campaigns,” he alleged.

VDM also criticized Nigerians who engage in political arguments online without participating actively in the democratic process, urging citizens to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote during elections.

“And for people who are going online commenting, most of you don’t even have a voter card, you are just making noise online. To effectively make change, you must vote,” he said.

The activist disclosed plans to mobilize voters ahead of future elections, adding that he intends to organize supporters into groups to encourage mass participation at polling units.

“I know most of you will say they will rig, but if we make it massive, it will be very difficult for them to rig. I will organise people into groups and provide support during the voting process,” he added.

While maintaining that he would not openly endorse any presidential candidate, VDM stressed that he would continue speaking against Tinubu’s re-election ambition because, according to him, the administration has failed Nigerians.

He also referenced previous comments allegedly made by President Tinubu concerning electricity supply, arguing that the government had not fulfilled its promises.

“Tinubu said if he cannot provide electricity for Nigerians, they should not vote for him and he has totally failed. The economy has crashed and insecurity is worse,” he stated.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not issued any official response to the allegations and comments made by the activist in the trending video.
