The federal government has been urged to release the detained leaders of Okuama community in Delta State, held by the army for over one year.
The plea was made by the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Emmanuel Sideso, while donating food items to the people of Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
Sideso, who is the Chairman of the Urhobo Traditional Rulers Council, also known as Ukoko R’ Ivie Urhobo, emphasized the need for continuous peace in Okuama community and other neighbouring communities.
He was accompanied by other traditional rulers, including Solomon Onojeta, the Ovie of Arhawarien Kingdom, Obukowho Whiskey,bthe Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, and Noble Eshemitan, the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom.
The monarchs donated 500 tubers of yams, 15 bags of rice, and five rams to support the community, still recovering from the trauma of the recent crises.
The Uvwie monarch said the traditional rulers acknowledge the hardship faced by the residents of Okuama community, expressing the hope that the festive season would bring joy to the residents and other Urhobo families.
He thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his support and assured the community of assistance from the Delta State government.

Also, the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, Obukowho Whiskey, urged the representatives of the community to distribute the food items fairly and to always maintain the peace.
President General of Okuama community , Mr. Emmanuel Okrikira, expressed gratitude to the traditional rulers for their generous donation and pledged to ensure everyone in the community receives aid.
He further appealed to Gov. Oborevwori to expedite the release of their detained community leaders.
This event follows an earlier donation of 100 mattresses to the Okuama community by the Urhobo Traditional Rulers Council.
