The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has issued a statement denying that its head office was impacted by the recent fire on Lagos Island, assuring that its employees, customers, and visitors are safe.
The fire occurred at the Afriland Building on Broad Street, trapping several workers and prompting some to jump from windows to escape.
The bank emphasized that the affected property is not its headquarters, UBA House, Marina.
“We acknowledge the fire incident at a building on Broad Street, Lagos Island, which houses one of our branches.
“However, contrary to social media reports, the affected building is not UBA House, Marina, our head office.
“We have taken measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff, customers, and visitors in the building,” the statement said.
