The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has suspended 147 football officials for 45 days over violations of its betting regulations, with Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan among those sanctioned.
The disciplinary action followed an investigation into allegations that football officials placed bets while serving at clubs in Turkey’s top two divisions, as the federation intensifies efforts to address betting-related misconduct in the sport.

- A total of 448 officials were initially provisionally suspended and referred for investigation.

147 Officials Found Guilty of Betting Violations
In September, the TFF announced that 448 football officials had been provisionally suspended and referred to its professional football disciplinary board for investigation over alleged betting activities.
Following a review of the cases, the federation determined that 147 officials had violated its betting regulations and imposed 45-day suspensions on them.
The sanctions prevent the affected officials from carrying out football-related duties during the suspension period.
However, the federation said there were insufficient grounds to pursue disciplinary action against the other 301 individuals initially investigated.
TFF Betting Rules Apply to Football Officials
Under Turkish Football Federation regulations, football officials are prohibited from participating in betting activities, a restriction that also applies to players and coaches under relevant football rules.
World football governing body FIFA and European football’s governing body UEFA also maintain regulations designed to protect the integrity of the game and prevent betting-related conflicts of interest.
The latest disciplinary action underscores the TFF’s efforts to enforce its rules and strengthen accountability across Turkish football.

Previous Betting Sanctions in Turkish Football
The latest suspensions follow a separate investigation in late 2025, when the TFF sanctioned 149 referees and suspended 1,024 players over betting activities.
The series of disciplinary measures highlights the scale of the federation’s efforts to investigate potential breaches and reinforce compliance with betting regulations.
The sanctions also renew attention on the importance of integrity, transparency and responsible conduct among officials and other participants in professional football.
