Former United States President, Joe Biden’s recent diagnosis of aggressive prostate cancer has drawn an outpouring of support from political allies and rivals alike, including former Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama.
The 82-year-old president, who lost his son Beau Biden to brain cancer in 2015, is once again facing a personal battle with the disease.
According to a statement from his office, Biden’s cancer has a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) one of the most severe and has already spread to his bones. However, doctors say the cancer is hormone-sensitive, opening pathways for targeted treatment. The Biden family is currently exploring all available options.
In a rare moment of bipartisan unity, former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to extend his sympathies: “Melania and I are truly sorry to learn of Joe Biden’s recent health news. We send our best wishes to Jill and the family, and we hope for a swift and successful recovery for Joe.”
Former President Barack Obama, under whom Biden served as Vice President, also took to social media to offer words of encouragement: “Michelle and I are keeping the whole Biden family in our thoughts. No one has worked harder to advance cancer research than Joe. I know he’ll face this with the same grit and grace that have always defined him.”
Vice President Kamala Harris, who stepped into the Democratic spotlight after Biden withdrew from last year’s presidential race, wrote on X: “Joe is a fighter. I know he will tackle this with the strength, resilience, and optimism that have guided his leadership. Doug and I are holding the entire Biden family in our hearts and prayers.”
