The Army has announced the successful rescue of three kidnap victims and the neutralisation of two suspected terrorists during a joint security operation in Edo State.
According to the Army, the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups following a reported kidnap incident at Ambrose Alli University on July 13, 2026.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops, alongside police personnel and vigilantes, tracked the suspected kidnappers to their hideout in Esan Local Government Area, where they engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle.
The military disclosed that two of the suspected terrorists were killed during the exchange of fire, while sustained pressure from the joint security team forced other members of the gang to flee, abandoning their captives.
