In a significant and renewed offensive against ISWAP/Boko Haram, troops dismantled scores of ISWAP/Boko Haram insurgents in the Sambisa Forest.
Troops of ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ executed the highly strategic operation on May 11, 2025, hitting the terrorists operating within the dense and treacherous terrains of the Sambisa Forest.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, at the theatre command headquarters of ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ on Monday, May 12, 2025, Capt. Reuben Kovanvagiya.
The engagement took place in Ladin Buttu, a notorious stronghold for the terrorists and a vital logistical hub.
During the operation, the elite forces of ‘Operation HADIN KAI’ engaged the insurgents in a fierce firefight, demonstrating superior firepower, tactical acumen, and exceptional coordination.
“The troops effectively neutralized a substantial number of terrorists, significantly disrupting the insurgents’ activities in the region.
“In addition to the successful engagement, the troops confiscated a cache of weapons and ordnance, further crippling the militants’ capacity to wage war.

“Subsequent reconnaissance missions in the area unveiled critical evidence of the terrorists’ hasty retreat, with signs of blood discovered along their withdrawal routes.
“This indicated that many of the escaping insurgents suffered serious injuries from gunfire sustained during the battle.
“The strategic importance of Ladin Buttu cannot be overstated; it serves as a crucial location for the insurgents, providing them a platform for logistical coordination and movement throughout the forest,” Capt. Kovanvagiya said.
The statement added that the leadership of ‘Operations HADIN KAI’ praised the troops for their remarkable bravery and tactical ingenuity, affirming that the operation is a testament to the recent directives issued by the chief of army staff aimed at intensifying offensive operations across all fronts.
It said such measures are essential in the ongoing battle against insurgency in the region, reinforcing the commitment to restoring peace and security.
