Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke have arrested a notorious most wanted bandit and a military impostor during a recent security operation in Taraba State, according to a statement released on Friday.
Captain Oni Olubodunde, Acting Spokesperson for the Brigade, confirmed the arrest in Jalingo and credited the breakthrough to credible intelligence provided by vigilant citizens.
The operation, which is part of ongoing efforts under Operation Lafiyan Jamaa led to the recovery of a cache of arms and ammunition.

“On April 16, following a distress call from a local hunter, troops conducted a raid on a suspected bandit hideout in Dutsen Kachalla, in the Lainde area of Lau Local Government Area,” the statement read. “Though the suspects escaped into the mountains, soldiers recovered an AK-47 magazine, a rifle butt, military headgear, and an ID card belonging to one Adamu Umaru Jauro.”
Three days later, on April 19, troops acting on fresh intelligence, according to the statement, apprehended Yusuf Hammadu, alias “Dogo,” in Lainde Jessy, also in Lau LGA. Hammadu had been on the security agencies’ most-wanted list for an extended period due to his involvement in numerous criminal activities in the region.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to restoring and maintaining peace across Taraba State and urged the public to continue supporting military efforts by providing timely and accurate information.
