President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Mallam Tukur Yusuf, who represents the North-West, and Prof. Sunday Aja, representing the South East, as INEC national commissioners.
The president also swore in two members of the board of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). They are Ikpeme Ndem, Cross River State, and Justice Buba Nyaure (rtd), Taraba State.
The commissioners took their oath of office at the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of Monday, May 12, 2025, at the State House, Abuja.

In attendance at Monday’s swearing-in ceremony were the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, his Budget and Economic Planning counterpart, Atiku Bagudu, and Information and National Orientation Minister, Mohammed Idris, were amongst other cabinet members in attendance.
Following the swearing-in, the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, characterized the appointments as a vital move towards reinstating the commission’s full operational capacity.
“With these appointments, we are now close to having a complete set of commissioners,” he stated.
