President Bola Tinubu has directed all political appointees in his administration who plan to contest elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign from their government roles by March 31, 2026.
The announcement, made on Tuesday by Dewan Goshit, Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), is aimed at promoting political clarity ahead of the polls.
According to the statement, the directive is intended to allow public officials to focus on their political ambitions while preventing conflicts of interest and maintaining accountability in governance.
