President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned sports administrator and community leader, Ibrahim Galadima, describing his passing as a significant loss to Nigeria’s sporting community.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president paid tribute to Galadima’s enduring contributions to football development across the country.

Tinubu noted that the late administrator played a pivotal role in advancing Nigerian football at both grassroots and elite levels, adding that his legacy would remain a reference point for future generations.

Galadima, who died on Saturday at the age of 78, held several key positions during his lifetime.

He served as chairman of the Kano State Sports Council and was a two-time commissioner in Kano State, contributing significantly to sports development at the state level.

At the national stage, he rose to become president of the defunct Nigeria Football Association between 2002 and 2006, before the body was restructured into the Nigeria Football Federation.

The president extended his condolences to Galadima’s family, the government and people of Kano State, as well as the wider sports community in Nigeria and beyond.

Beyond his contributions to sports administration, Galadima also held traditional leadership responsibilities.

He was turbaned as the Galadiman Fagge, serving as a community leader in the Fagge area of Kano.

Tinubu said the nation would remember Galadima not only for his service in public office but also for his dedication to community development and youth empowerment through sports.
