President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to soldiers killed in a recent terrorist attack on a military base in Borno State, describing them as “our unforgettable heroes.”
In a statement, the president expressed deep sorrow over the loss of troops from the 29 Task Force Brigade under ‘Operation HADIN KAI’, following the deadly assault in Benisheikh.
Tinubu commended the fallen soldiers for their bravery, noting that they fought gallantly to repel the attackers and prevent Boko Haram insurgents from overrunning nearby communities.
He extended condolences to the families of the victims, including O.O. Braimah, who was among those killed in the attack.
“Their sacrifice in defence of our nation will never be forgotten,” the president said, while urging the armed forces to remain steadfast in the face of ongoing security challenges.
Tinubu noted that sustained military operations have significantly weakened insurgent groups, describing the latest attack as an act of desperation.
“This attack is a sign of the pressure being mounted on these criminal elements. Our troops must not be discouraged,” he said.
