President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated a high-powered Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as part of efforts to strengthen internal cohesion within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration took place on Wednesday in Lagos, underscoring the President’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and stability within the APC. The committee is made up of serving Governors of the party, members of the Federal Executive Council, and other key stakeholders.
Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, was appointed Chairman of the committee, while former APC National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, will serve as Member/Secretary.
Among the distinguished members of the committee is Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, whose inclusion reflects his growing national relevance and the confidence reposed in his leadership capacity within the party. Other members include Senator Adamu Aliero; Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; as well as Governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), and Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti).
Also named as members are Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna) and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers); Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello; and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Buni expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the party leadership for the confidence placed in the committee members. He assured that the assignment would be carried out with diligence, responsibility, and a deep sense of commitment to the unity of the APC.
According to him, the committee will undertake wide consultations and strategic engagements aimed at developing a comprehensive, result-driven framework that promotes inclusion, addresses grievances, and strengthens party cohesion.

“The committee will engage in strategic consultations to develop an all-encompassing, productive and result-oriented strategy that will stand the test of time. We shall implement a system that gives everyone, especially aggrieved parties, a sense of belonging and renewed hope,” Buni said.
He further noted that proactive measures would be adopted to identify and mitigate potential threats to party unity, while urging members to place the collective interest of the party above personal considerations.
President Tinubu had earlier emphasized the need for cohesion within the APC during the party’s 15th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Friday, December 19, at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja. He reminded party leaders that the APC was founded on the principles of progressive politics, broad participation, and respect for diverse opinions.
“We must continue to be resolute that this democracy we hold in our hands must not fail. We say we are bigger, larger, and taller, but it must now be in our hearts to be accommodating. That is the only way we can be resilient; we must be tolerant,” the President had said.
The inauguration of the committee signals a renewed push by the APC leadership to consolidate internal harmony and strengthen its organisational framework as preparations for future electoral contests gather momentum.
