President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, amidst growing concerns about violent attacks in the area that have led to many deaths.
His plane landed at the Makurdi Airport around 12:58 pm on Wednesday. This visit is particularly important following a recent tragic event in Yelwata, a community in the Guma Local Government Area of the state, which has caused outrage and condemnation throughout the country.
On Wednesday morning, Tinubu’s convoy faced heavy flooding as he traveled to Benue State to express his condolences to the families affected by the ongoing violence.

However, it wasn’t confirmed whether he was in the convoy during this journey. The road connecting Makurdi and Lafia was nearly untraversable due to hours of rain.
During his time in Benue, the president plans to meet with important local figures, including government officials and community leaders, as well as security teams.
The goal of these discussions is to find effective ways to improve security and bring peace back to the state after these violent incidents.
The president is expected to reassure the people of the state that their safety is a top priority of his administration.
