A former Deputy National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Chief Abia Onyike has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Afikpo/ Edda Federal Constituency of Ebonyi State in the 2027 general elections.
Onyike is contesting under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former commissioner for information in Ebonyi State, made this known in a press release issued on Saturday, saying he would seek the party’s ticket to represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
According to him, his decision to join the race is driven by a desire to contribute to the development and future aspirations of the Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency.

He disclosed that in the coming days and weeks, he would embark on consultations with critical stakeholders across the two local government areas that make up the constituency, to share his vision and exchange ideas on the development of the area.
“I wish to seize this opportunity to inform our people at home and in the diaspora about my intention to vie for the slot of the House of Representatives for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency in the 2027 general Eeections under the platform of my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Onyike said.
“In the coming days and weeks, I intend to consult with stakeholders in the two local government areas to share my vision and exchange views with them on important issues relating to the future and developmental aspirations of the federal constituency.”
The APC aspirant called on his constituents both within Nigeria and in the diaspora to support his ambition, expressing optimism that collective effort would help advance the development of the constituen.
