The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six people by terrorists at Shola Quarters, in the state metropolitan area.

According to the police, the incident occurred at about 4 am on Tuesday, and those abducted included five males and one female.

This was disclosed in a statement issued to newsmen by the spokesperson for the command, SP Gambo Isah.

The statement identified those abducted to include Tanimu Adamu, Abdullahi Isiya, Isiya Rabiu, Ibrahim Adamu, Mannir Jayi and a woman whose name was yet to be determined as at time of this report.

It, however, added that the fifth person, Mannir Jayi, managed to escape from the abductors and is helping the police in their investigations. The Trumpet Gathered

The statement reads thus: “DPO CPS KT reported that today 14/06/2022 at about 0400hrs, he got a report that terrorists numbering 12, on motorbikes, armed with AK- 47, invaded Shola Quarters, at the outskirt of the city and abducted six members of the community to unknown destination.

“The Commissioner of Police, KTS police command, has deployed Anti-kidnapping unit in addition to other operational assets of the command to the area.

“He gave them a marching order and restated that the command will not rest on its oars until the victims are rescued alive and unhurt. Investigation is ongoing.

“Those abducted are Tanimu Adamu, Abdullahi Isiya, Isiya Rabiu, Ibrahim Adamu, Mannir Jayi, and a woman – name not yet disclosed.

“The fifth person Mannir Jayi, escaped from the abductors and is helping the police in our investigations.”

Like most states in the northwest, Katsina is faced with security challenges brought about by activities of terrorists who kill, maim, abduct, rape, rustle and commit other heinous crimes.

To date, hundreds of people have lost their lives due to terrorist attacks, while thousands of others have been abducted in parts of the state.

This is in addition to hundreds of millions of naira that is reported to have been paid to terrorists by hapless family members whose loved ones have been kidnapped.
