Taraba State residents living in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have renewed their call for stronger unity and collective development within their community. The message was echoed at the 2025 edition of “Taraba Day,” held over the weekend at the Luxe Lush Event Center, River Plate Garden, Wuse II.
The event, themed “Nigeria and Taraba: Strengthening Bonds for Mutual Development,” drew a large turnout of Tarabans from across Nigeria and the diaspora.
In his keynote address, Mr. William Karshima, CEO of Kashco International (USA), emphasized that unity remains the foundation of sustainable progress. “Unity is not just standing together; it is growing together,” he said. “Development is built when hearts, hands, and hopes unite.” He cautioned that development stalls “when the hands that should build start pointing instead.”

Karshima highlighted three critical components in his lecture: The Myths, which debunked assumptions that development is solely tied to economic growth or foreign assistance; The Synergy, which underscored the importance of strong communal bonds in fostering trust and institutional stability; and The Pathway, which offered strategies for grassroots, sustainable development.
Ambassador Daniel Likam, Chairman of the Tarabans Residents in Abuja, reaffirmed his dedication to strengthening ties within the community. He pledged continued efforts toward promoting unity and cooperation among Tarabans in the FCT.
Many attendees expressed optimism that the renewed focus on collaboration would pave the way for greater cohesion and progress, both in Abuja and in Taraba State.
