The Taraba State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Aminu Jauro, has reiterated his commitment to safeguarding the welfare of local government workers.
Speaking on Monday, in Jalingo, the state capital, through his deputy, Peter Tani, at a safety awareness road walk organised by the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Jauro pledged to do everything possible to ensure the safety and well-being of the council workers.
The event with the theme: “Revolutionizing health and safety: The role of AI and digitalisation at work,” was held as part of activities marking the 2025 World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
Jauro emphasised the council’s readiness to collaborate with organisations like the NSITF to promote initiatives that support development and protect lives.
Head of Health and Safety at the NSITF, Joseph Terence, urged workers to maintain vigilance and prioritize safety while on duty.

He commended the Jalingo Local Government Council for fully enrolling its workers in the NSITF scheme, describing the move as a significant step towards enhancing workers’ welfare.
Terence also called on other local government chairmen across the state to emulate Jalingo’s example by partnering with the NSITF.
NSITF Branch Manager in Jalingo, Mr. Bulus Hwadi, reiterated the fund’s commitment to promoting workplace safety across the state.
He highlighted the importance of insuring both workers’ lives and business premises, describing the NSITF as a reliable partner in ensuring occupational safety.
The safety awareness road walk, which took participants through major streets of Jalingo metropolis, according to him, is aimed at raising awareness among workers and business owners about the critical importance of complying with health and safety regulations.
