The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has launched its new logo to commemorate its 60th anniversary.
According to report by NAN, the logo marks the beginning of various celebratory events that will highlight six decades of dedication to excellence in sports journalism, advocacy, and development.
Established in 1964, SWAN has become a fundamental part of sports reporting and promotion in Nigeria.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the association’s headquarters, featuring a visually striking logo in green and white that includes the number “60” alongside the well-known SWAN emblem.
A ribbon reading “Years Anniversary” emphasizes the importance of this milestone.
SWAN President Isaiah Benjamin described the unveiling as a significant moment in the association’s history.
“With this logo launch, we are not only reflecting on the past 60 years but also renewing our shared commitment to professionalism, integrity, and the advancement of sports through responsible journalism,” he stated.

Benjamin mentioned that the anniversary celebrations planned for October, will include a variety of events.
These will feature public lectures, award ceremonies, sports activities for media professionals, tributes to sports legends, and a gala night to honor long-time supporters and contributors to SWAN’s mission.
The celebration will coincide with Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary, enhancing the national importance of the event.
Over its 60 years, SWAN has been instrumental in shaping the sports media landscape, advocating for ethical reporting, and influencing policy discussions on sports governance and inclusion at all levels.
The SWAN president urged media professionals, stakeholders, partners, and the public to join in celebrating this significant achievement and to support its vision for ongoing growth and impact.
