Yoruba Nation campaigner, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has stirred political debate after warning opposition figures against campaigning in Nigeria’s South-West ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a video circulating on social media on Monday, Igboho cautioned supporters of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi not to mobilise political campaigns in the predominantly Yoruba region.

According to him, the South-West remains strongly aligned with the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Igboho expressed firm support for Tinubu’s leadership and suggested that the president deserves another term in office in 2027, describing him as a leader who should continue guiding the country.

His comments have generated reactions across Nigeria’s political space, with analysts noting that such statements could intensify debates around regional influence and political competition as early alignments ahead of the 2027 election cycle begin to emerge.

Igboho, a prominent advocate for the Yoruba self-determination movement, returned to Nigeria earlier in 2026 after spending years outside the country following legal challenges and political tensions.

His renewed public appearances and comments on national politics have since drawn significant public attention.

Political observers say the development reflects the growing intensity of political positioning across the country as stakeholders begin to shape narratives ahead of the next general elections.
