Motunrayo John, a Junior Secondary School student(JSS) of Mount Carmel Girls Secondary School in Ikare- Akoko Local Government Area of Ondo State, was on Tuesday swept away by flood around Semusemu area of the ancient town.
The Trumpet gathered that the flood was caused due to heavy downpour in the community.
According to an eyewitness, the victim was playing in the rain before she was swept directly into the popular, but notorious River Dada around the Semusemu area of Ikare town.

The eyewitness added that before help could reach her, the flood had taken her away.
Confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Ikare-Akoko Police Division, Superintendent of Police (SP) Olatujoye Akinwande, let out that the matter was reported by the Principal of Mount Carmel Girls’ Secondary School, Mrs Ajoke Asiwaju.
The DPO said a search and rescue operation for the young girl had since commenced.
